Marvin:
[0:04] Hey, folks, it's Marvin Cash, the host of the Articulate Fly, and we're back with another Central PA Fishing Report with George Costa, TCO Fly Shop in State College. How are you, George?

George:
[0:14] I'm amazing as always, Marvin. How are you?

Marvin:
[0:16] I'm living the dream and just trying to stay out of trouble.
You sound super refreshed from your vacation.

George:
[0:22] It was nice. It was lovely. We had a great time up there in the ocean on the Cape Cod, so it was nice. I feel good about it. I feel refreshed about it. So things are good.

Marvin:
[0:31] Well, there you go. And we were talking before we started recording that this just oppressive heat we've had the last, I don't know, week to 10 days on the East Coast is kind of abating.
Water is a little bit low, but things are actually better than you would expect, right?

George:
[0:46] Yeah, so things are not too bad right now. So water levels, I would say, touch low, about average.
But we've had rain in the past two, three weeks, which has been nice.
So it's kind of keeping the level stable. right about where they should be for this time of year.
Temperature's creeped up a little bit this week. So definitely start camping, pens especially, late afternoon on those days when it's in the 80s, it's definitely gonna start getting a little warm.
So have to pay attention to that in the afternoon, but mostly the fishing's been better in the mornings. We've got Trico starting, which has been a lot of fun on Spring Creek. Guys have had a pretty good in the mornings for the last couple of days.
They're in early morning hatch and they're just starting to get heavy and that'll be a great hatch to get out in the morning before it gets too hot.
Other than that, I mean, the levels are good. There's not an awful lot of dry fly activity. There's some cahills around. There's some caddis around.
Terrestrials have been working great on all the local streams.
So definitely focus on your ants and your beetles right now this time of year.
If we do get some rainstorms that come through, it's gonna bump up the water a little bit, put some color into the water.
So we had really good streamer fishing last week when the water came up and a little off color right after those storms.
So get out there when it's still kind of gray and rainy Throw a couple of streamers on the banks and you'll pick up plenty of fish So fishing is not too bad for you know, early summer and moving into middle of July here Yeah, absolutely.

Marvin:
[2:06] I imagine your smallmouth bites probably pretty good, too It's been pretty good.

George:
[2:10] We're gonna mention that that yet definitely picking up topwater action has been picking up really good on The Juniata River in the West Branch.
We just got a pile of poppers in here at the shop So pick some up and you know get out there and hit those smallies because that's now it's now it's definitely prime time Yeah, absolutely, and you know folks we love questions at the articulate flying when we don't get questions.

Marvin:
[2:31] It makes George sad And sending him a question is cheaper than therapy for him, so please send us a question and if we If we use your question I will send you some articulate fly swag and we are drawing for something cool from the shop at the end of the season and George before I let you go And listen to more blues music in the shop You got anything special going on either you know sales, classes, demos, anything like that you want to share it folks.

George:
[2:57] Yeah, for sure. We've got some great stuff on sale right now.
We've got some uh sims camo waders on sale.
Check out our website tgoflyfishing.com to see all of our sims sale stuff.
Classes, we've got some spots left for our urine and pee class coming up in another week or so. And some beginners classes.
Spots are getting pretty full so if you're thinking about getting into fishing and just kind of like listening to Marvin and I talk every two weeks that's also good too. But so you can sign up for those beginners classes and learn how to do that.
Other than that, normal stuff here in the shop. We're just kind of getting into our summer mode. You know, shop hours are always the same, nine to six, Monday through Saturday, nine to three on Sundays, and we'll see you in the shop when you get up here to State College.

Marvin:
[3:40] Well, there you go. Well, listen, folks, you owe it to yourself to get out there and catch a few. Tight lines, everybody. Tight lines, George.

George:
[3:46] Take it easy, Mark.
