Marvin:
[0:04] Hey folks, it's Marvin Cash, the host of The Articulate Fly, and we're back with another Central PA Fishing Report with George Costa of TCO Fly Shop in State College. How are you doing, George?

George:
[0:14] I'm amazing as always, Marvin. How are you?

Marvin:
[0:15] And I'm, as always, just trying to stay out of trouble. Looks like you guys are finally cooling off, and you may actually have a little bit of rain in your forecast.

George:
[0:24] Yeah, we've had nice, cool, seasonal temperatures here.
Temperatures here. Nights have been down in the forties. Days have been not much higher than high fifties or so. And it looks like it's going to be that, um, pretty much for the remainder of the week. We got a little more rain forecast coming later in the week, which would be nice. We had a little bit over the weekend.
So it is very typical central Pennsylvania, full weather that we're getting right now. And, um, as is the case, the fish are right on time to start spawning.
Uh, we have started seeing some reds here and there.
So, reds are getting made, fish are definitely starting to spawn, so it is that time of year to watch out for what they're doing, leave them alone if they're spawning, and just move on to water where fish are not actively spawning.
Watch out for those shallow gravel riffles. That's really what you want to look out for.

Marvin:
[1:12] Yeah, and just to help folks out, right? The reds are going to basically look like a trash can lid or smaller circle that's super cleaned off, right? Yeah.

George:
[1:21] Yeah, for the most part around here, you're going to see really clear looking gravel patches.
Some of the reds around here can be absolutely huge, so it doesn't necessarily have to be a small little spot.
Sometimes they can be bigger patches with a lot of cleared off gravel and just anything you can see that looks like it's been really, really clear, that's what we're going to need to just really look out for.

Marvin:
[1:47] Yeah, don't step on them and if there are fish on them, don't fish to the fish, right?

George:
[1:51] Exactly, leave those big fish alone.

Marvin:
[1:53] So, if we want to be a good corporate citizen and, you know, what's the bite look like off the Reds?

George:
[1:59] So pretty good right now. I mean, we've had some really good fish this past week. We've had all of hatches that are put, you know, put a lot of fish up.
And you know, nymphing has been fantastic. We had a really good day this past week with some clients out on spring Creek, a lot of fish were caught.
So other than that, I mean, all of Caddis, October Caddis around fishing has been pretty good. So it's a great time of year to fish and no complaints as far as everything else has gone. It's been, it's been really good.

Marvin:
[2:27] Well, there you go. And you know, folks, we love questions on the articulate fly.
You can email them to us or DM us on social media, whatever is easiest for you.
And if we use your question, I will send you some articulate fly swag.
And we're going to draw for something cool from the shop. And George, before I let you go, you know, I was in Lowe's and all the Christmas trees are up.
So I would imagine you guys are probably, you're, you're, you're winding up your fall sales and you're getting ready to like jump feet first in the holidays.
Anything you want to let folks know about?

George:
[2:58] Yeah, well yeah, we've got some great sales as always on our website here.
Holiday time is fast approaching, so check out our website, you know, tcoflyfishing.com.

So, you know, check us out and hopefully we get you in the shop here soon to do some of those great classes we got.

Marvin:
[3:25] Yeah, and if you can't make it to the shop, you can always buy a gift card, right?
Yeah, there you go. And so, for folks that haven't memorized it yet, you want to let them know shop hours and location, all that kind of good stuff? Absolutely.
